Albuquerque Foothills ~ Ward Family

I know mama’s want their kids to be perfect and well behaved 100% percent of the time, but where’s the personality in that Lol!? The older I get the more I love kids, I guess I didn’t appreciate all that is a child until I got further from being one. There is childish and childlike the second is one we should all be striving for, but then we grow up and worry about so much and get fixated on stupid things, and spending time with kids in this way is so good for my soul. Their oldest son was getting baptized and so they wanted to start off by taking pictures at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Temple grounds (He did’t get baptized there, but at a church building), and for a lot of the focus to be on him. He was so sweet! I just loved spending time with them taking their family photos at the Temple and in the Sandia Foothills. Boys and rocks go hand in hand right! There was also lots of cacti, I may or may not have pretended to impel myself on some to get a laugh from them 😉

You all are doing a fine job raising these adorable boys! You all are the best!

Madrid New Mexico ~ Tucker Family

I enjoy so very much being able to take a families photos year after year. Watching kiddos grow up, getting to know the family more each year. These folks are real cowboys and cowgirls, eating lead and gunpowder for breakfast, with some corn meal mixed in for taste ;). They each have their own horse and go help clear trails in various forests in NM with some group which shall remain nameless because I can’t remember right now. Mama cowgirl even teaches horseback riding lessons! They choose Madrid, New Mexico for their family photo shoot location. LOVED this location and them in it was dynamite! See for yourselves…

Carlito Springs ~ Andrea Redd

I know, I know, you’re not supposed to ask or reveal a woman’s age past like 20 or some darn thing like that. However if I looked like Andrea at age 62 I’d be like “I’m 62, did I mention I’m 62, yeah I make 62 look good, oh you thought I was 47 oh that happens all the time, I’m really 62”. I might end every conversation ever with “I’m 62, yeah I know I make it look good, I just didn’t’ want you to keep thinking I was 45, really I’m a grandma, hard to believe right?!” You get the picture 🙂

Life is nutty, and nutter happens to be one of my favorite words, just ask my kids, they hear it often. I’m just thinking about how long it’s been since I posted a photo session. Partly that’s due to running out of space, so I had to buy more, so naturally that would set me back two months 😉 Who cares, right?! “Lets get on to the “nitty gritty” said in your best a Nacho Libre voice. I adore shooting women in this elegant age range. CONFIDENCE. Nuff said.

Madrid New Mexico ~ Josh ~ Senior Photos

The year was 1987 I was about 4 years old and his mom was about 8 years old, we were neighbors in Gallup. Her house was like nothing my 4 year old eyes had ever seen; butterfly collections, art and lots of wooden tribal things from their living in Papua New Guinea. I bet if I walked back into that house today just as it was it would be neat-o to my 32 year old eyes too. Now were both all grown up with kids of our own. I was laughing on the phone with his mom while were doing their print order saying “if you had told us years ago that when we got older I’d take your sons high school senior pictures we’d of thought you were loco!” Fast forward 28 years and bam here we are! This family is awesome, and I have enjoyed so much taking their photos over the past few years. It was a great time taking this guys photos in Madrid New Mexico I’m glad they were up for meeting early since this place gets really busy later in the day.

I ❤ the Tario family.

Carlito Springs ~ Ashley Gallegos

“This was my very first photoshoot and for being timid I was very comfortable being in front of the camera. DeAnn made the session one to remember. I was so comfortable and felt so beautiful. Her make up artist Steph did such an amazing job with my hair and makeup. DeAnn is very personable and fun. She is very helpful throughout the session and knows how to make you look good! Highly recommend you give her a call and set up a session.” – Ashley

I loved this session in Carlito Springs. New Mexico has so many amazing places there is somewhere to fit every ones dream locale. Ashley is a beautiful person inside and out. I’m so impressed with her willingness to put so much of her needs on hold to help her grandmother take care of her grandfather with Alzheimer’s. I want to say more, lots of typing and erasing going on, so I’ll opt for brevity because I know I tend to be wordy, but what else can I really say? Words fall short and feel cheap. I just pray they receive the blessings they need.

I feel like I always say what a good time I have at shoots, not sure why I feel compulsive about sharing that since what really matters is the experience my clients have. I do have a good time, I love what I do, but a HUGE part of that is making sure I get it right for the client and making sure they have a wonderful experience. If you missed it somehow read what Ashley had to say about her experience at the top of the post.

Studio ~ Mother Daughter Shoot

This lovely lady was my daughters 2nd grade teacher(on the right). ENDLESS patience was what I saw her display time and time again. I wanted to give her a meaningful gift at the end of the year and what better way to show her just how beautiful she is then by doing a photo shoot for her.

Well my daughter is going to be 4th grade (and may have her again, whoot, whoot) so it took a bit, it took my daughter and her grand daughter being on the same soccer team for this shoot to happen. When you haven’t had portraits done and you’re not sure what to expect it makes sense to be hesitant. I told her daughter about the gift and that the two of them should do it together and boom, we got it done! I mean we love to share wonderful experiences with people we love don’t we! 🙂

I had a lot of fun with these ladies and cute kiddos. They are gorgeous and I think it’s so neat that mom and daughter have the exact same eye color.

SONY DSC  Chubba, Chubba! Everyone loves a chubby baby! When someone comments on her chubs I always laugh and say something like “it’s the only time in your life that it’s cute to have rolls.” Funny how that is. She is 8 months here which is the perfect time to capture this stage in all their chubby glory since they aren’t crawling yet, at least mine aren’t haha. This is one of my favorite stages! SONY DSC  SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC

San Pedro Mountains ~ Lydia

I have been faithful about taking Baby Cakes photos every month, pat myself on the back for that, yeah me for doing something consistently! This month is the big 7! I should share all the other months too. I take lots of photos, but posting every session I do isn’t going to happen.                                                                                                                                 Me and my husband built this tepee, and be me, I mean me telling him where I wanted it. I did gather most of the branches, that was my contribution to this little tepee that has been in our yard for over a year now. Though the kids say it’s too small I find it super great for a prop/backdrop. I knew it was nap time, but the mood struck and sometimes you just gotta roll with it and throw caution to the wind! I live on the edge! I gathered up some stuff around the house that I thought would go together and dressed baby cakes and we went outside for her 7 month pictures on a wing and a prayer. I had made this little head piece for I don’t even remember what and never used it. I have also used this red knit blanket in more sessions and it’s not even what I bought it for, I need to get some more like it!SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC   SONY DSC  Not sure what is going on with her and her lips, but it was cracking me up!  SONY DSC Bow to me!

SONY DSC  SONY DSC  SONY DSC  SONY DSC   SONY DSC  SONY DSC  SONY DSC  SONY DSC  SONY DSC     SONY DSC SONY DSC    SONY DSC  Babies are quite expressive and anytime I find myself looking through a baby session I find myself wanting to narrate them, do you? Anything good come to mind???SONY DSC  SONY DSC   SONY DSC  SONY DSC  SONY DSC SONY DSC   SONY DSC   How funny is this?! It came out of no where too! My husband of course thought it was pure awesomeness!SONY DSC  SONY DSC  SONY DSC  SONY DSC   SONY DSC Baby L which one-1 I could hang any of the 3 up in my home, but which one do you like most? But I sure do have a thing for an ‘old timey’ feel.

Happy trails!

Santa Fe Mountains ~ Tucker Family

The first time I saw the Santa Fe mountains in their full fall glory I wanted there and then to photograph someone. When I listed off and described potential photo session locations to Nichole I was elated that she choose this spot! I wish it could say it satiated my craving to take pictures there. I try and spend as much time as I can there every fall, hopefully next year it will be to take more family photos…perhaps yours? SONY DSC SONY DSC                        SONY DSCSONY DSC SONY DSC Being woken up from a nap to take pictures isn’t any 4 year olds happy place especially when they don’t like to smile much anyway.  I pulled out every tool in my tool box to get him to smile! This was my last attempt, playing red light green light and it worked! After thinking about it though I have to say I relate to the little man, I’m not one to fake a smile, or anything for that matter. If the only smiles you give are genuine then I say good for him! His parents know him and his personality so they know he wouldn’t be smiling for most the pictures anyway. He is dang cute, and I love it when kids are themselves, smile or not. SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC  One of the hardest things is to not post every picture I give to families. Thank you Tucker family for the honor of allowing me to take your family pictures! I had a great time 🙂 Someone recently asked me how I can handle the craziness of taking family photos. Truthfully I love it, I may stress before a session, but once I start shooting it’s my happy place. I love the dynamics of every family and enjoy spending time with anyone I photograph. I want to add more here, but little bit just woke up from her nap is helping me stay brief Lol! Thanks again Tuckers!
